Stress Less During the Holidays

beach hammockAs much as I love this time of year, the vastness of my busy schedule can overwhelm me. I end up stressed out, exhausted and even cranky. Aromatherapy is always my go-to remedy, but there are other simple ways to chill out.

During the holidays it can be difficult to wind down. Try these ideas taken from the Delicious Living blog so you can relax and recharge.

Listen to a relaxation download. An audio-guided relaxation helps slow down a spinning mind.

Swap backrubs. For the month of December, swap 5-minute back rubs each night with a loved one.

Take a 10- or 20-minute nap. Even a quick lie-down can do wonders to calm your mind and recharge you.

Journal. Writing in a journal can help put your day into perspective; try committing to filling one page each morning.

Watch a comedy or a funny comedian. Stream a movie or comedy special that’s sure to make you laugh.

Count your blessings. Mentally listing the positives in your life can quickly put concerns and stress into perspective.

Listen to music. Put music on while cooking, folding laundry or driving, for a quick mood change.

Sip herbal tea. Look for calming herbs such as skullcap, valerian, chamomile and catnip.

Go for a walk. The benefits of simply getting out of the house and moving cannot be overstated.
