A New Year Wish

new year champagne

New Year’s Eve means many things: champagne toasts, a kiss at midnight, watching the lighted ball drop on tv, New Year’s resolutions. Truth be told, I do all of those except the last. I never make resolutions; they are too grand and heavy with guilt.

Year’s end seems like a good time to reflect so we can improve in the next year. But maybe we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. “We already have everything we need. There is no need for self-improvement,” says Pema Chödrön, Buddhist teacher and author of Start Where You Are: A Guide to Compassionate Living. The message we tell ourselves should be “there’s nothing wrong here. I haven’t done anything wrong.”

So, I offer a different perspective on the coming year – seek peace and happiness. They can be easier to achieve than “Lose 50 pounds” or “Scale Mount Everest” and still be just as rewarding.

Peace and Happiness diffuser blend
3 drops bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
4 drops clary sage (Salvia sclarea)
2 drops grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
1 drop neroli (Citrus aurantium)
2 drops orange (Citrus sinensis)
Combine essential oils in a glass bottle with a dropper top. Put 1-2 drops of the blend in a diffuser and diffuse per manufacturer’s instructions.

My wish is for this blend to help you find unprecedented happiness in 2015. Happy New Year!
