Treat Yourself to a Spa Day

Unique Hotels on FlickrTax day is finally over. It’s time to relax. Or, better yet, it’s time to spoil yourself. It only takes a few hours of “you” time to feel renewed. What better way than by having an “at home” spa day. You deserve it! Now, what are you waiting for?

Start by setting the mood. For the ultimate bathing experience, light a few candles and put on your favorite music. Turn off the phone to unplug and unwind. Grab some fluffy towels and fill the bathtub with warm water. When the tub is full, add 1-2 TBS of the following milk bath and get ready for a nice soak:
Cleopatra’s Milk Bath
2 ounces baking soda
1 ½ ounces powdered milk
1 ounce fine sea salt
5-8 drops essential oil (i.e. rose*** or ylang ylang****)
Combine all ingredients in a baggie and mix well.

While you’re in the tub, give yourself a Hair Treatment. Take 1 TBS of jojoba oil, with 3 drops of lavender** or geranium* essential oil in it, and run it through your hair with your hands. Put your hair under a shower cap to add heat that will help the hair oil penetrate and moisturize deeply.

Another beauty treatment to do while bathing is a facial mask. Smooth the following facial mask over a clean face and neck; leave on for 10 minutes then rinse well with warm water:
Floral Facial Mask
1 ounce distilled water
½ ounce rose hydrosol
½ tsp vegetable glycerin
2 TBS clay
4 drops essential oil (i.e. lavender or geranium)
Combine water, hydrosol and vegetable glycerin, mixing well to dissolve the glycerin. Add clay and stir. Once a paste is formed, add the essential oil and stir.

You will probably need to take a quick shower after your soothing bath in order to remove the hair oil. After you step out of the shower, tone and scent your body with lavender hydrosol that you’ve put in a sprayer bottle. Your skin will be happy and it will leave a relaxing scent.

Now that you’ve had a blissful day, why not make the beauty items again and package them up for mom. She needs pampering, too, and her Day is right around the corner.
