Mother’s Day is right around the corner. You now have a dilemma: how do you show your appreciation and make mom happy? Taking her out to brunch is nice. A massage is good. Aromatherapy is even better.
The matriarch of the family can be stressed out from taking care of everyone, but essential oils can remedy this. They have a history of relieving anxiety and elevating a general good mood. Research shows that bergamot essential oil (Citrus aurantium subsp. bergamia) can reduce stress by lowering the body’s hormonal response to stressors. Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is often used by Aromatherapists in times of anxiety and stress. And most people have heard that lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is beneficial at reducing low levels of anxiety.
So, do you present mom with a bouquet of these plants? That would be unusual. An easier answer is to make her a perfume with these and other relaxing essential oils. The blend here will make mom, and you, stress free. The oils in it are even safe for a mom-to-be (just dilute them in twice as much jojoba or water).
Mother’s Day Joy
4 drops bergamot (Citrus aurantium var. bergamia) essential oil
3 drops Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) essential oil
1 drop frankincense (Boswellia carterii) essential oil
3 drops geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) essential oil
9 drops lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil
1 ounce jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) carrier oil
Mix the essential oils in a glass bottle. Add jojoba oil and mix again. Can be used in a sprayer bottle if the jojoba is replaced with equal amounts of water.
