Just around the corner is Father’s Day. Thinking of a way to make dad feel special can be difficult if he is rough around the edges. But taking care of his skin is important and you can help by giving him grooming products that include essential oils.
There are many ways that aromatherapy is suited to a man’s temperament and sense of style. Scents that are woodsy, herbaceous, and spicy often appeal to men. Citrus oils are also nice and appeal to the woman that is near enough to smell him. The classic Bay Rum Aftershave was a distillate made “from rum and the leaves and/or berries of the West Indian bay tree… Other ingredients may be citrus and spice oils.”
Making your own Bay Rum is time-consuming, so for a quick, do-it-yourself Aftershave Face Oil I consulted Essential Man by David Webb. For normal skin, the recipe is as follows:
30ml Apricot kernel oil
10ml Sunflower oil
10ml Jojoba oil
3 drops Neroli
3 drops Sandalwood
2 drops Sweet Orange
Another easy gift to make is Webb’s Calming & Soothing Aftershave. He starts with a Water Base made from:
100ml purified water or floral water
20 drops Essential oils
40 drops Essential oil soluboliser (this insures the ingredients stay mixed)
The Essential Oil scent blend is:
6 drops Cedarwood
8 drops Lime
6 drops Lavender
The instructions are:
Blend your essential oils together. Add the essential oil soluboliser to the essential oil blend. Add the water or floral water to this mixture. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients together. Store in the refrigerator.
So, pick a scent and make dad a skincare essential that will give him great skin and make him smell great at the same time.
